The Humour Foundation is seeking performers for the Alice Springs Clown Doctor team. Please note: This is a PAID 1 day per week position.

Clown Doctors work in hospitals bringing joy and laughter to sick children, their families and hospital staff. While medical doctors do ward rounds looking at what is wrong with a child, Clown Doctors do clown rounds connecting with what is right with the child.

To become a Clown Doctor you need to be a highly skilled and highly sensitive professional performer who is willing to make the child the star of the show. Clown Doctors work in pairs in a range of hospital environments from intensive care to treatment rooms to outpatients’ waiting rooms.

You need to be an excellent improviser, a good listener, imaginative and funny! You need to work well with kids aged up to 18 years; respond to vulnerable people and stressful situations; and perform with a number of different partners. Musical skills, clown skills and physical theatre skills are also helpful.

If selected for second round auditions you will be required to undergo a police clearance and working with children check.

First round auditions will be held on Monday 10th June from 6pm – 9pm, venue TBC.

To be invited to audition you MUST COMPLETE a Registration Form by 5pm Monday 3rd June.

To obtain a Registration Form or more information, email Jo Cohen, Artistic Coordinator on jo.cohen@humourfoundation.org.au
