Smiles Across Tasmania Appeal
For nearly 30 years, Clown Doctors have been transforming Tasmanian hospital stays into moments of joy, laughter, and connection. Now, we need your help to continue this legacy.
From 17 February – 17 March 2025, we’re inviting Tasmanians to join us for Smiles Across Tasmania – a month-long fundraising campaign supporting Clown Doctor visits to hospitals in Hobart, Launceston, and Burnie.
A Proud Tasmanian Legacy
The Clown Doctors program was born in Tasmania. In 1996, following one of Tasmania’s darkest days, Dr. Peter Spitzer (a.k.a. Dr. Fruit-Loop) brought light and laughter to the Royal Hobart Hospital, igniting the vision for what would become The Humour Foundation’s Clown Doctors program.
Since then, Clown Doctors have been a constant source of comfort and play for sick children, their families, and healthcare staff across the state. In 2024 alone, they reached 28,707 Tasmanians, delivering relief from pain, fear, and anxiety with their unique blend of medicine and mirth.

We’re thrilled to be the exclusive charity partner of the Ladbrokes Launceston Cup on the 26th of February 2025, helping us raise vital funds and bring Clown Doctor visits to children in hospitals across Tasmania.
Our Clown Doctors will be there on the day, so be sure to come and say hi!
We have proudly partnered with Hyundai Help for Kids as the official vehicle partner of Smiles Across Tasmania with support of Hyundai Motors; Hobart, Devonport, Launceston, and Jackson Hyundai.
This support ensures our Clown Doctors can travel far and wide, bringing laughter to children in hospitals and healthcare facilities across the state. Just as Hyundai helps families get where they need to go, they’re helping us deliver smiles across Tasmania.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Ladbrokes Launceston Cup – 26 February
The Humour Foundation is on a mission to spread joy and laughter across Tassie as part of our Smiles Across Tasmania Appeal.
As the exclusive charity partner of the Tasmanian Turf Club – Ladbrokes Launceston Cup, we are looking for enthusiastic and energetic people who’d love to support our Clown Doctors trackside! What a great way to enjoy The Cup and make a social impact!
All funds raised go directly to the Clown Doctor program in Tasmania bringing joy, laughter and connection to sick kids in hospitals across Tassie.
