Bringing Joy and Connection Through Collective Support

At The Humour Foundation, we know that real impact comes from collective effort; community is at the heart of everything we do. The individuals who give what they can, the volunteers who dedicate their time, and the everyday supporters who share our message all play a vital role in bringing laughter where it is unexpected, yet most needed.

The Impact of Community Support

Recently, we’ve had the privilege of seeing the power of community in action through various fundraising events and initiatives. One standout example is STRYDE4 Day, where individuals and teams take on physical challenges to raise funds for The Humour Foundation. Thanks to their efforts, we have been able to expand Clown Doctor visits to the Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) in Manly, as well as Bear Cottage, giving young people facing life-limiting illness the gift of laughter and connection. Special thanks to team Astrea, whose incredible financial contribution really helped bolster these results.

Similarly, the Smiles Across Tasmania Appeal saw an outpouring of generosity, raising close to $50,000 to support the Tasmanian Clown Doctors program. This incredible show of support ensures that children in hospitals across Tasmania continue to experience the healing power of humour when they need it most. A special thanks to Hyundai, who along with the incredible Tassie community and the hospital Auxilleries, provided additional support for this campaign.

Our community in the ACT has also recently come together through Hands Across Canberra – Canberra Day Appeal, an initiative that will play a crucial role in sustaining Clown Doctor visits to Centenary Hospital for Women and Children in the ACT.

Beyond fundraising, our community thrives because of people who step forward. Donors, whether making a one-time gift or an ongoing contribution, help us sustain and grow our programs. Volunteers, from fundraising champions to event organisers, keep awareness and support alive. And advocates – those who share our work through social media, word of mouth, or community events—help us reach even more people who need the joy we bring.
