A decade of Support from Hyundai Help for Kids.

Celebrating 10 Years of Partnership with Hyundai Help For Kids

Over the past 10 years, Hyundai Help For Kids has helped The Humour Foundation bring countless moments of joy, laughter, and connection to children and families across Australia, making a difference in hospitals, regional communities, and family support centers.

From the laughter-filled corridors of hospitals to the Hyundai-gifted LOL Express van that has travelled all over Australia, Hyundai Help for Kids has been instrumental in driving our cause forward.

Since 2014 The Humour Foundation has received support from Hyundai Help for Kids valued at over $1.1 million. This is equivalent to 928 Clown Rounds, benefiting more than 118,000 children, their families and carers, and staff in hospitals all over Australia. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights.

2014 Socceroos Visit to the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick

In May 2014, an infamous team joined our Clown Doctors at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation – Randwick. The Socceroos, with hearts as golden as their jerseys, teamed up with Dr. Duffer and Dr. Dotty for a pre-World Cup visit, orchestrated by our partners at Hyundai Help For Kids. Amidst the excitement of a pre-World Cup buzz, a tender moment unfolded—a gentle rendition of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” shared between the players, Clown Doctors, and a courageous young fan. It was a beautiful blend of laughter and heart, demonstrating that sometimes, the smallest gestures hold the most significant impact.

2019 Jumbo Joy Flight with NextSense

One of the most unforgettable moments was the 2019 Jumbo Joy Flight, a collaborative event with NextSense (formerly known as the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children). This initiative saw children with vision and hearing impairments embark on an exciting, laughter-filled flight, with Clown Doctors on board to ensure the experience was one they’d cherish forever. For many children, this was their first time on a plane, and the combination of adventure and joy created memories that will last a lifetime.

2022 Dust Up Festival with the LOL Express

In one of the most ambitious and unique ventures, the LOL Express embarked on a 2,000-kilometer journey from Perth to the Ngaanyatjarra Lands for the Dust Up Festival – an annual event held in the remote Indigenous town of Warakurna in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands bringing local schools together in a celebration of performance, sport, community, and culture. The tour, supported by Hyundai Help for Kids, ensured that even the most isolated children could experience the power of play and laughter.

2022 Meals for the Heart Evening

In May 2022, Hyundai Australia’s management and staff swapped their office attire for aprons and serving utensils to host a very special ‘Meals for the Heart’ evening at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney.

This initiative is part of a broader program where members of the corporate community step into the kitchens of Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia to serve meals to families navigating the challenge of having a child in hospital.

For one unforgettable dinner, the Hyundai team was joined by Clown Doctors, Dr. Toot and Dr. Bop, adding an extra sprinkle of laughter to the evening. The CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia (RMHCA), was also present, offering a warm welcome to Hyundai Australia CEO and providing a tour of the house, showcasing the incredible support RMHCA offers to families in their time of need.

This event is a shining example of how our partnership with Hyundai Help for Kids goes beyond financial contributions, touching lives through meaningful, hands-on support.

The Humour Foundation Postcard Project

For many years, our annual calendar was a cherished tradition, funded by Hyundai, which helped raise crucial funds for The Humour Foundation. As we phase out the calendar, the support from Hyundai is not ending but transforming to fund an innovative new project that brings our mission even closer to the hearts of those we serve.

Introducing the Clown Doctors Program Postcards! Each of our beloved performers will now have their own personalised postcard to leave with the children they visit. Featuring a QR code, these postcards allow children and families to share their stories and connect in a modern, interactive way.

Hyundai’s financial backing has been instrumental in bringing this creative idea to life, ensuring that our Clown Doctors can continue to bring smiles and laughter in a uniquely personal way. We are incredibly grateful for Hyundai’s continued support, which allows us to innovate and enrich the lives of the children we meet.

Looking Forward

As we celebrate the past 10 years of collaboration, we also look forward to what the future holds. Together with Hyundai Help for Kids, The Humour Foundation is excited to continue creating moments of laughter and connection for children and families across Australia.

Here’s to a future full of smiles, laughter, and making a lasting impact where it’s needed most.
