The Laughter Care program continues to thrive

Milestones for Laughter Care

Over the past few months, our Laughter Care program has demonstrated the power of humour and connection in two significant ways—through a special visit from the Governor-General to one of our partner facilities and the continued success of our Playfulness in Care workshop. These initiatives highlight our commitment to enhancing well-being and fostering meaningful connections in the communities we serve.

Governor-General’s Visit: A Joyful Day at Lansdowne Gardens

If laughter truly is the best medicine, then Governor-General, Her Excellency Sam Mostyn AC, left in the best of health after her recent visit to Cranbrook Care’s Lansdowne Gardens on Wycombe, one of our cherished Laughter Care program partners. During her visit, the Governor-General had the opportunity to witness the impact our Laughter Care Specialists have on residents’ well-being. The session, led by the ever-talented ‘Monty’, was filled with joy, music, and laughter as residents engaged in playful activities that lifted spirits and fostered connection. Her Excellency even joined in the fun, sharing in the laughter that has become a hallmark of our program.

At The Humour Foundation, we are committed to enhancing well-being, lifting spirits, and improving health through the power of joyful humor, insightful connection, and creative play. The Governor-General’s visit was a beautiful reflection of the care and kindness we strive to bring to every session. We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful endorsement from Cranbrook Care and Her Excellency, and we invite you to join us in celebrating the positive impact of our Laughter Care program.

Playfulness in Care Workshop: Strengthening Support for Unpaid Carers

Our Laughter Care program continues to make strides in supporting those who care for individuals with dementia, particularly through our strengthened partnership with Carers ACT. This collaboration recently saw the successful delivery of our Playfulness in Care workshop, designed specifically for unpaid carers who are navigating the challenges of caring for loved ones with dementia at home. The workshop offers invaluable principles and techniques, equipping carers with the tools to infuse their caregiving with joy, playfulness, and connection.

Through this workshop, we aim to provide carers with not just practical skills but also a renewed sense of energy and hope. By incorporating playfulness into care routines, carers can foster deeper connections with their loved ones, enhance emotional well-being, and create moments of shared joy, even in the face of challenging circumstances. The ongoing success of this workshop highlights the importance of supporting carers and the vital role that humor and play can play in caregiving.
